Graduate specific

CVs

Much of the advice given for chronological and achievement focused CVs on the “Your CV” page is applicable for recent graduate CVs. Grad CVs are just likely to be shorter than those with many years working experience, probably 2 pages. However there are slight differences because graduates have less experience in work – fewer roles and often less time spent in these roles. This is not an issue because employers are not expecting as much depth of course. There is however a major challenge for graduates in making themselves stand out from the competition for jobs by really maximising the sell on their CV. You will be competing against this year’s graduating students, added to last year’s who may have taken time out or have not found the right job so are still applying. This ultimately means high levels of competition.
